Applications:
The INMARSAT systems apply to a wide range of mobile telecommunications:
• INMARSAT-C: supports Telex and Data transmission of low speed, up to 600 bps, using Store and Forward system.
• INMARSAT-B-M-miniM: offers telephony services, Telex. Fax of all speeds and high speed Data, up to 64 Kbps. It is also designed for ISDN network connection. INMARSAT-M provides services up to 4.8 kbps, while INMARSAT minim provides telephony up to 4.8 kbps and Fax, Data up to 2.4 kbps.
• INMARSAT Fleet 77/33/55/128: provides voice, fax, Data, ISDN services at 64-128 kbps, Mobile Packet Data Service (MPDS) for high speed data and Fax Group 4. IP network connection on a 24/7 basis, on a volume-based charge, subject to usage. It is fully compliant to International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) specifications for new systems that apply to the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) providing prioritisation and pre-emption.
