Regarding the letter sent, according to media reports, by the Chairman of the Parliamentary Inquiry Committee on the Siemens case to the special prosecutors, OTE states the following:
The only management which has endeavoured to shed light on the scandals OTE has suffered from in the past, is the one appointed in 2004.
In early 2008, OTE sued Siemens before the German courts, seeking both damages’ compensation and the disclosure of the names of OTE executives who might have been bribed.
It is common knowledge that OTE is the only entity in Greece to have taken action both against Siemens and its former executives.
Therefore, OTE expresses its astonishment on the parliamentary inquiry committee letter that the above actions constitute “omissions”.
Furthermore, OTE current management has made available to the committee all means, apart from financial resources, so that the committee itself could assess anew if there had been any omissions. OTE refused to cover the reassessment expenses, since members of the Committee expressed doubts on the soundness of the evaluations conducted, on the pretext that, if the evaluators were paid by OTE, questions could be raised on the objectivity of their conclusions.
OTE fully cooperates with the judicial authorities and awaits formal notice of the contents of the aforementioned letter.
