OTE’s Corporate Responsibility Report has just been published, having confirmed, for another year, that it meets the requirements of “Application Level B – GRI checked” of the G3-GRI Sustainability Reporting Guidelines by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). This is the fourth review of economic, social and environmental actions of the company.
OTE is one of the first Greek companies to successfully apply the principles G3 - GRI at its Corporate Responsibility Report. The G3 Guidelines have become the de facto global standard for corporate responsibility reports.
OTE’s 2008 Corporate Responsibility Report presents how the company applies in day-to-day business its «Building ties» program towards the market, the society, the environment and its employees. The report covers with quantitative and qualitative data all activities implemented in 2008. A separate section is devoted to corporate responsibility initiatives developed by OTE subsidiaries in Greece and abroad.
OTE’s 2008 Corporate Responsibility Report focuses on:
• The progress of the objectives set in previous years regarding Corporate Responsibility strategy
• The continuation and expansion of documentation of its “ecological footprint” and the planning of actions for its reduction (reduction of energy consumption, CO2 emissions, water consumption, electronic equipment recycling etc.)
• The contribution of OTE to the rapid growth of broadband in Greece
• The long-lasting support of OTE towards children, the youth and vulnerable social groups via its co-operation with and support towards NGOs
• The policies and practices for the personal development and success of employees.
On this occasion, OTE’s Corporate Communications Director, Mrs Deppie Tzimea, commented: “The systematic effort of OTE to adopt, apply and report systematically regarding Corporate Responsibility, as well as its will to incorporate the CR strategy in OTE’s business plan, is becoming part of the company’s everyday business, as portrayed in our 2008 Corporate Responsibility Report. Today, the company’s CR actions follow specific objectives and detailed planning. The fact that our 2008 Corporate Responsibility Report maintained the Level B of the GRI G3 Sustainability Reporting Guidelines demonstrates our constant focus to the principles of Corporate Responsibility and constitutes the base for further improvement”.
