cosmoONE: the ideal solution for economical, faster and more efficient procurements
OTE announces that it launched an international bidding tender with the support of its subsidiary cosmoONE, making use of the electronic procurement capabilities to achieve significant savings.
More specifically, an international bidding tender was held on November 6th for the supply of 108 different types of copper wires, with a total budget of EUR 18 million. Seven companies from Greece and abroad participated in the tender process which lasted seven hours. It was held in two rounds of negotiations, in combination with the submission of tender offers using a special information system designed for this purpose by cosmoONE.
More specifically, the process, which resembles a closed auction, included in every round:
· The recording of offers at the system
· Their confirmation by the participating firms, as well as
· The comparative presentation of the results per type of wire and the announcement of the winner company at a special monitor.
With the above process, there has been a significant discount up to 25% per type of wire. In total – also taking into consideration the price of copper, so that the prices may be comparable - prices have been reduced by 5,5%, compared to those at the tender held in 2007.
e-procurements: significant benefits
OTE carries out e-procurements through cosmoONE on a regular basis. Since 2001, over 600 e-auctions of a total budget of 200 million euros have taken place, with an average price reduction of 20%. Additionally, by utilizing the know-how of its subsidiary, OTE launches international bidding tenders using the above system.
All the above demonstrate the contribution of e-procurements to the reduction of cost for any type of procurement.
