"Dimitris Pikionis 1887-1968" at the Benaki Museum
OTE supports the great retrospective exhibition of the prominent Greek architect Dimitris Pikionis at the Benaki Museum, demonstrating the company’s commitment towards the preservation & promotion of the cultural heritage of Greece.
OTE supports in bringing forward for the first time the painting and architectural works of Dimitris Pikionis, continuing its long-standing cooperation -since 2006- with the Benaki Museum and contributing in bringing to light its various collections & archives.
"Dimitris Pikionis 1887-1968" exhibition takes place at the Benaki Museum at Piraeus Str. (138 Piraeus str. 138 & Andronikou str.) from December 15th 2010 to March 13th 2011. Pikionis’ architectural work and studies, as well as his -not so well-known-paintings over the years are displayed at the exhibition.
The great Greek creator has contributed significantly in shaping the contemporary Greek architectural identity. His works include the Moraitis’ house (1921), the Karamanos’ house (1925), the Lycabettus Hill Elementary School (1932), the Kotopouli Summer Theatre (1933), the Delphi Xenia Hotel (1951-1955), the surrounding area of the Acropolis and Filopappou Hill (1954-1957), the children's garden at Filothei (1961-1965) etc.
Supporting this unique exhibition, within the framework of its Corporate Responsibility Programme, OTE gives the opportunity to the public to get a closer look at the world of Dimitris Pikionis.
