OTE offers telecommunication infrastructure and financial support for the operation of the following helplines:
“1056”, National helpline of the society “The Child's Smile”
OTE has undertaken the installation and operation of the SOS "1056" ChildLine, since in 1997. The ChildLine can be reached 24 hours a day and has been included in the European Helpline Network.
In 2010, the total number of calls received was 269,801.
“116000”, European Helpline for Missing Children of the society “The Child's Smile”
Implementing our Corporate Responsibility programme, we continue our 14-year cooperation with the “Child's Smile” society. In this context, we undertook the installation and operation (within the OTE network) of “116000”, the European Helpline for Missing Children, which is a child helpline providing reports on missing children. Its goal is the coordinated combat of child abductions or life threatening disappearances of children not only at a national, but at a European level as well.

"11525", advisory help line of The Union “Together for Children”
We expanded our cooperation with the Union through the installation and operation of the ‘11525 Together for Children Help line’, which commenced in January 2008. The aim is to provide consultation and guidance to children, teenagers and parents. It can be reached from Monday to Friday (9:00-17:00), where specially trained personnel, such as social workers and psychologists, help callers by providing them with the appropriate advice and directions.

"116111", European helpline of the association A.P.H.C.A (Association for the Psychosocial Health of Children and Adolescents).
We have untertaken the installation and operational support for European call line ‘116111,’ which is a support line to Children and Youths, where they can express their concerns and ask for help on issues that concern them, receive information on their rights, communicate in case of emergency and be guided to community services, when deemed necessary.

“YpoSTIRIZO 800 11 800 15”, teenage helpline in collaboration with MEY (Adolescent Health Unit) of the B’ Pediatrics Clinic “Aglaia Kyriakou” of the University of Athens.
OTE installed and supports the 800 11 800 15 Helpline titled “Ypostirizo”(Support)/help@saferinternet.gr, run by the Greek Centre for Safer Internet, participating thus in the overall effort for safer internet use, especially by children and adolescents.

Since 2009, we provide free telecommunications infrastructure and coverage of a part of operating expenses for the operation of the help line.

We find ways to support the significant work of charity associations
MDA Hellas
Since 2003, we have donated an amount for the completion of the first Neuromuscular Diseases Special Unit in Greece, at the "Agia Sophia" children's hospital.
OTE has also undertaken the two-year contract concerning the employment of a special Molecular Biologist to cover the needs of the second Neuromuscular Diseases Unite in Greece.
In 2008, we supported the effort for the creation of the ‘Youth Centre,’ which gives patients the opportunity to watch training and entertainment programmes, as well as the appropriate relief aid.
In 2009, we supported the planning of educational and recreational programmes for people with Muscular Dystrophy and their escorts, as well as educational "arts and crafts" workshops (painting workshop). We also contributed to the purchase of aids (wheelchairs, ramps etc) that were given to families with at least one member with Muscular Dystrophy and major financial and social problems.
In 2010, we gave our support for the creation of the association’s ‘Youth Centre’, aiming at offering comprehensive services, aside from the services provided through the 3 MDA Units at hospitals, as well as at the better social integration of patients, by attracting Members & Volunteers to the premises of the Centre.
"Cerebral Palsy Greece"
It is a Society offering systematic services to people suffering from cerebral palsy and support to their families. OTE, constantly supports the CP Society's significant work and huge efforts. We have covered the operating costs of the ‘Adult Club’ which in 2008, employed 62 adults with cerebral paralysis in creative programmes, such as: art programmes, theatre group ‘Thiasos tis Tritis,’ music workshop, literature programme, motion and expression programme. In 2009, we offered support for the operation of a Graphic Arts Workshop and covered the operational expenses of the Gardening Department and the transportation expenses with school buses. In 2010, we covered the annual operating costs of its IT Training Unit (personnel payroll, purchase of training material and equipment maintenance).
The Hellenic Society for Disabled Children (ELEPAP)
OTE has stood by the Hellenic Organisation for the Protection and Rehabilitation of Disabled Children since 2004. The donation of a call centre to cover the needs of disabled children was our task for 2009. In 2010, we undertook the coverage of operating expenses for the creation of a “New Department for Early Training & Therapeutic Intervention – Special Pre-school Education Unit” of ELEPAP.
"Friends of the Child"
An Association formed to provide moral and material help to children, particularly of elementary school age, in stressful situations.In 2009, we purchased sports & training equipment for 50 poverty stricken children, purchased underwear & call cards for 100 juvenile prisoners and provided special treatment for children with severe learning disabilities. In 2010, we covered the special treatment - speech therapy, psychotherapy - on a monthly basis for one child, covered check-up and vaccination for 80 children and expenses for a Bazaar (canteen hire and sacks).
“PNOE – Friends of Children in Intensive Care”
A Foundation which helps children in hospital, supports and creates Intensive Care Units throughout Greece. In 2009, we purchased a continuous cardiac output and saturated venous blood oxygen monitoring system for the Children’s Intensive Care Unit of the Heraklion University Hospital in Crete.
Special Treatment Centre ‘Margarita’
During 2010, OTE provided support regarding:
- Upgrades to computers used by students of the centre
- Computer network maintenance
-Website operating expenses.
For a good cause
For eight years running, a substantial part of the revenues derived from OTE’s Christmas campaign has been donated to charitable organisations. In 2009, the amount of 250,000 euro, which was gathered from calls made to “11888”, during Christmas and New Year's Day, was offered to support the objectives of Charitable Organisations, including the Union ‘TOGETHER FOR CHILDREN’, the Muscular Dystrophy Association ‘MDA HELLAS’, and the Society ‘THE CHILD’S SMILE’. In 2010, the amount of EUR200,000, which was generated from purchases made at OTESHOP stores, through the 13888 number or oteshop.gr during the 2010-2011 Christmas season, was donated to help the goals of the above Charity Organisations. The Union “TOGETHER FOR CHILDREN” consists of 10 Greek Non-Profit Organizations, that are collaborating since 1996, in a ring of love, solidarity and equality to provide help to society’s most sensitive part, children, especially children in need.
