Development of Psiri – Municipality of Athens

The Municipality of Athens is attempting to perform a bioclimatic upgrade of the Psiri district and showcase its historicity through a series of interventions in the area. OTE assisted in this effort and contributed to the area’s artistic intervention by sponsoring two building murals on the side of buildings at the centre of Psiri. The murals were created in 2010 by the artistic group ‘Carpe Diem.’

 

This is the largest Festival in Cyclades, which takes place in Ermoupolis, Siros, from June to September. It included 4 independent music festivals, music, dance and theatrical performances at the historical theatre of Apollo, artistic exhibitions and simultaneous artistic events. In 2010, OTE sponsored the organisation of this particular Festival.

 

‘Giortes Palias Polis’ in Xanthi
For the 5th consecutive year, OTE sponsored the ‘Giortes Palias Polis’ (Old Quarters/City Festivities) that were held in September 2010 in Xanthi and included a number of cultural, sports, musical and other events.

 

Medical Conference – ‘Agia Sofia’ Children’s Hospital
In 2010, OTE participated as a sponsor in the science forum on Paediatric Haematology–Oncology. The Conference was held in Athens and its primary axis was to inform the medical community on new developments and new treatments in the field of Paediatric Haematology–Oncology.

 

Festival for Homeless People

This specific event is for raising the awareness of the public on issues regarding vulnerable social groups and homeless people in particular. For the third consecutive year, OTE supported the Greek participation in the 2010 Homeless World Cup that was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

 

Panhellenic Association of Blood Donors
OTE shows its incessant social awareness by sponsoring the activities of the Panhellenic Association of Blood Donors. More specifically, in 2010 it supported financially the organisation of a concert for the Association’s charity purposes with Christos Thiveos and the Plucked Strings Orchestra of the Municipality of Patras, which took place in October in Patras.

 

The Association of Social Responsibility for Children and Youth – SKEP

Through the innovative artistic collaborations it plans and organises, SKEP aims at giving voice to socially vulnerable groups of young people, while raising at the same time the awareness of young people who are not facing similar problems.
This effort was concluded with the ‘Apotipomata’ Exhibition, which was held in November at the Vorre Museum and was sponsored by OTE.

Greek Red Cross
Through its financial contribution, OTE supports the important work carried out by the Greek Red Cross.

Panhellenic Information Technology Competition

For the 2nd consecutive year, OTE sponsored the Panhellenic Information Technology Competition, by offering to the competition’s first phase winners, the popular Conn-x pack for broadband internet access. This sponsorship falls under OTE’s continuous efforts to spread broadband internet among the new generation.

OTE supports the Society for the Study of Greek History. This specific body aims to encourage and promote the research of Greek History and especially modern history. Furthermore, the society’s objectives include the development and propagation of historical studies based on scientific facts, as well as the analysis and promotion of information on the Greek identity and unity throughout its long history. Part of the above objectives is achieved through the financial support offered by OTE to the Society during the last years.

 

In 2010, OTE continued its cooperation with the Scouts of Greece. Specifically, it sponsored the festivities that were carried out for the 100 years of Greek Scout Movement, of its activities and its history. The Scout Movement’s mission is to contribute to the education of youths and help build a better world where people become complete as individuals and play a constructive role in society.

Eleftheria Thrakis
OTE sponsored, for the 5th consecutive year, the cultural activities of Komotini, a border town of Greece. Specifically, OTE sponsored the events titled ‘Eleftheria Thrakis’ that took place in Komotini, from 8 to 10 May 2010, with the opportunity of the celebration for the liberation of Komotini.

AVANT GARDE – Pioneers of Thessalonica
Once more OTE sponsored the athletic efforts of the female Beach Handball team – Avant Garde, for 2010. Specifically, it supported the team’s participation in both the European Championship in Portugal and the Greek Championship.

LIFELINE HELLAS
In 2010, OTE supported once more the very important work of the non-profit Organisation LIFELINE HELLAS. Specifically, it participated in the charity event, the proceeds of which were given to support the children from Serbia with serious vision and hearing problems and to the Greek organisation ‘Merimna.’

Transparency International Greece
For the last few years, OTE has been supporting the work of the anti-corruption Organisation ‘Transparency International Greece,’ contributing in the effort to undertake further initiatives and actions for the elimination of corruption and confrontation of the significant legislation implementation issue, factors hindering Greece’s development. 

Cultural Organisation ‘MEDIEVAL ROSE’
OTE, in support of the efforts made by regional bodies to maintain and promote our cultural heritage and in order to establish a stable cooperation relationship, is participating, again this year, as a sponsor, in the Medieval Festival (Castle Fayre) which is organised by the Cultural Organisation ‘Medieval Rose’ and takes place within the Medieval town of Rhodes, as well as the island’s broader area. The theatrical, dance and musical events, that take place during the festival, are inspired by History, myths and customs of Rhodes dating back to the age of Knights.

Municipality of Asklipio
In support of the cultural actions of the periphery, OTE, for the fourth consecutive year, participated in the Choir Meeting of the Municipality of Asklipio. In March 2010, Ligourio hosted the spiritual event titled ‘Behold the Bridegroom cometh’ with the participation of the Municipal choirs of Nafplio and Nea Kios.

Continuing its successful cooperation with ‘Argo’ Art Organisation, OTE sponsored the theatrical play ‘That Face’ by author Polly Stenham that was put on by Argo Theatre from the end of January until March 2010.

Greek Society for the treatment of Multiple Sclerosis
We supported the humanitarian activities of the Greek Society for the Treatment of Multiple Sclerosis, proving in practice the company’s interest for vulnerable social groups.
  
Megara Sports Club
For the third consecutive year, we provided financial support for the activities of Megara Sports Club, which was established in 1976 and is renowned both on a local, as well as on European level, and those athletes aim to compete in World and European indoor and outdoor track and field championships.

2nd International Arts & Sciences Festival
We are participating, for the second consecutive year, in the International Arts & Sciences Festival, a major artistic and scientific event in which over 60 countries participate and which takes place in Patras from April to December 2010. The International Arts & Sciences Festival includes a section that refers to painting exhibitions with the participation of artists from around the world and an international conference titled ‘Art’s contribution to science.’

Event by the Prefecture of Thessalonica and the World Council of Hellenes Abroad: ‘Honour to the Greek Women of Diaspora’

For the third consecutive year through our sponsorship, we honoured the Greek Women of Diaspora that do voluntary and charity work, during an event that was organised by the Prefecture of Thessalonica in cooperation with the Council of Hellenes Abroad, with the opportunity of the International Women’s Day.

‘Promitheas’ Sports Club
We continuously and consistently support the actions of the ‘Promitheas’ Sports Club. For the sports season 2009-2010, OTE participated in the events titled ‘When sports meet volunteerism’ which was organised by the Club in December of 2009.   

Patras University Student Community (EESTEC)
For the second consecutive year, we support the educational activities of the Community of Patras University Students. In May 2010, we participated, as sponsors, in the seminar organised by EESTEC titled: ‘Technologies in the service of humanity.’
