We support vulnerable social groups
 
OTE remains a bastion for vulnerable groups by offering support to Non Government Organisations working in that direction.
During 20 telethons (14 in 2009) carried out with a special pricing policy, through the Televoting-IN service for charity purposes, OTE offered 76,510 €.
Also, within 2010, 2,940 phone cards (with a total value of EUR 12,300) were given to organisations such as the Greek Red Cross, the Hellenic Centre for Infectious Diseases Control (H.C.I.D.C.), ‘KETHEA DIAVASI’, Special Juvenile Correctional Facilities, etc.

Hellenic Cancer Society
In support of its work, in 2009, we contributed to the purchase of a Digital Mastographer for the “Centre of Early Diagnosis of Breast Cancer”.
In 2010, we undertook the procurement of scientific instruments for the ‘Centre for the Early Diagnosis of Cancer’ (Full Dermatoscope System, procurement of 3 heads for the ultrasound tomography scanner).

‘STROFI’ Rehabilitation Community Family Association, of the Treatment Clinic for Addicts (KETHEA)
Fighting drug abuse, we covered operational and other costs of the Centre in 2009.
In 2010, we covered the expenses for the children’s graduation ceremony from the KETHEA programmes, for the entire country and covered the expenses for the Association’s Christmas bazaar.
We also granted a scholarship to a programme graduate.

Doctors of the Aegean
For the  fifth consecutive year, we aided the humanitarian missions of the doctors to remote border islands.

Food Bank-Foundation fighting against Hunger
OTE financially supports the important work carried out by the Foundation, which aims at fighting hunger and limiting waste. To this end, for the fiftth year running, our aid  covered the operation costs of the Foundation and bought food supplies for poverty stricken people.

In 2010, we undertook the coverage of the Foundation’s operating needs and purchase of food for 2,857 homeless people that are given food at 37 food halls and Foundations in Attica.

Municipality of Athens
We stregthen the Programme of the Homeless Support Centre of the Athens Municipality and financially help events, the revenues of which are dedicated for the purposes of the Centre. In 2010, we supported the 8th Homeless World Cup, taking place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

 

During 2010, OTE supported the International Festival on ‘Documentary & Disability’ (presentation of the innovative ‘EyeWriter Initiative’ device for authors & artists with paralysis).
