GOULANDRI MUSEUM Implements training programmes that are adapted to the new requirements on environmental training. OTE, in its commitment to create a total environmental policy, is developing a series of initiatives and actions. In the framework of these actions, this year, we participated as sponsors in the interactive Exhibition ‘Climax, Planet, Climate’ that took place in the GAIA Centre of the Goulandri Natural History Museum. We also provided financial assistance for the Museum training programmes, which have been acknowledged globally in the fields of scientific research and training for the protection of Greek nature.
HELLENIC WILDLIFE HOSPITAL (EKPAZ) It is the country’s first body that received an official licence to own, transport and treat wild animals. We supported the Organisation’s activities on the protection of endangered species with small populations in Greece and Europe.
‘CYCLE OF PATMOS’ Non Governmental Organisation We provided support for the organisation of the environmental awareness symposium: ‘The great Mississippi: restoring the Equilibrium’
GREEK ORNITHOLOGICAL SOCIETY The only Government Organisation in Greece that has as its primary goal to protect wild birds and their biotopes. We supported the operation of the Network of Caretakers for Monitoring Important Regions for birds (Caretakers network) by organising 2 training seminars in Thermo, Etoloakarnania and Langada, Thessalonica.
MUNICIPALITY OF ALEXANDROUPOLIS The Municipality of Alexandroupolis, following in the footsteps of European cities, invested in the construction of a 5km modern bicycle lane network, which covers the town’s primary road axes. In that context, OTE supported the effort for a ‘greener town’ by giving a significant number of bicycles to the citizens of Alexandroupolis, thus contributing to the return of bicycles in its residents’ life.
GREEK PHYSICISTS SOCIETY (Achaia Branch) Recognising our responsibility regarding the continuous decrease of the environmental impact, we support the environmental actions of various bodies. In March, we participated in the National Conference titled ‘Nature & Man’ that was organised by the Greek Physicists Society (Achaia Branch) and the University of Patras.
